Friends and Freetime.

No school. Holler. To celebrate MLK day some friends and I headed to South Weebs for Sunday dinner and some Monday adventure.  Here are the pics I took from our exploits. I used my sister's old Canon to take these. It's digital. I guess you could say I'm moving up in the world. Realtalk though, film is my favorite.

This is a game from our high school days. We call it Portuguese Ping Pong. Whoever wins the point gets to smack it at the other guy's bare back. Hilariously painful.
We also played some Killer Bunnies. Outrageous. We turned off all the lights to create that underground poker game vibe. We nailed it.

"These kids are. so. slow." -Sam

"What on earth is he doing?" -Payd and Sam
"Guys, think I can break the ice?" -Conner

"Why is Payden trying to look all dramatic?" -Conner

"Wheeeeeeee!" -Payd
"Shoot dude! Hiking is so much fun!" -Payd
"Man. Why are we doing this? Hiking isn't even that fun." -Payd
Yeah. That's a frozen waterfall. #worthit

"Duuuude."

Christmas from My Camera's Perspective

Christmas! It's the best time of year. Literally.  Here is a timeline of my holiday with my family based on the pictures I took.  Some of the captions may or may not be fabricated.
First we witnessed an oil spill in a local Walmart parking lot. The damage was extensive. Luckily Walmart shoppers banded together to save the affected birds, fish and sea lions. Animal activists held demonstrations in the parking lot for the rest of the week.

We also got some gas over this holiday break. Thrilling experience.

Here my dad and sister can be seen doing meticulous work with their hands. What they are doing is still a mystery. Maybe next time the photographer will include their work in the shot. Maybe not.

We took surprise family photographs. Only Katie got the memo. Sam and I didn't even show up for the shot.
We seemed to get this one right. I was still MIA.

My favorite part of the holiday is when we all tried to strike the same pose on the climbing wall. I failed pretty miserably.

We also took out of focus glamour shots. "This is looking really good."
We even tried to make it look like Sam was a ghost.
 Then we laughed about it.
Of course, Christmas wouldn't be complete without a giant pile of wrapping paper. Our mail may be in that pile too somewhere.
To finish off our holiday we marveled at how our roof could just disappear overnight. Simply amazing!

There you have it. That is how my family spent Christmas vacation. Well, sort of.

First Day of School Blues

Another semester started today.  It was glorious.  Well not quite.  After leaving my first class (Biology) I thought things were going wonderfully well.  Then I went to my engineering class.  The professor is from Chile and his accent proves it.  He didn't waste any time.  We jumped right in.  I really wished I had read the textbook before going to class (too bad it is still in the mail).  The Chilean accent coupled with the totally foreign material made for a very overwhelming experience.  And it was only 11:00 AM.
After a much needed lunch break I meandered my way to my next class.  Linear Algebra. This professor is from Germany (or some nearby German speaking country).  He also has an accent to prove it.  Apparently I am really good at picking the international professors.  After struggling through 2 more classes 2:00 PM comes and I think I am done.  I strolled about campus proud of making it through day one.  I chatted with some friends, bought a chocolate milk, stood in the endless and ever-growing book line, then started walking home.  Halfway home I checked my class schedule to be sure I didn't forget one.  Well I did.  I completely forgot about my 2:00 PM class.  By the time I realized my blunder it was too late.  Well awesome.
One thing is certain: It is going to be a splendid semester.
